Olivier Rochus eased into the semi-finals of the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships with a 6-1 6-3 win over qualifier Raven Klaasen.

The No. 4 seed Rochus has a soft spot for the Rhode Island venue as he made it into the last four 12 months ago and he was not hard pressed to repeat the trick against a player making his first Tour quarter-final appearance.

Rochus took just an hour to wrap up victory, his dominance demonstrated by securing four breaks of serve.

"I like to play on grass, even if it's not that easy," Rochus said. "I played good at Wimbledon, even if I lost first round against Djokovic, it was five sets and it was really a great match so I know I can play good on grass. Two semi-finals in a row [in Newport]. I like it. I wish there were more tournaments on grass."

Brian Dabul claimed a 6-4 6-4 win over Dustin Brown in Thursday's other quarter final, while British qualifier Richard Bloomfield takes to the court on Friday.

Jamie Murray and his partner Jonathan Marray were beaten 7-6(3) 6-3 by Jonathan Erlich and Scott Lipsky in the quarter finals of the doubles.
