UFC 137 has been rocked by news Georges St-Pierre is out of the main event with a knee injury.

St-Pierre had been scheduled to defend his welterweight title against Carlos Condit, but UFC president Dana White revealed on Tuesday that the champion has been pulled. An early prediction suggests he will be out for two months.

As a result, Condit has also been removed from the card in order to wait for St-Pierre to regain fitness. White confirmed BJ Penn v Nick Diaz will now be the main event, and will remain a three-round contest.

"I just land in NYC and what do I always say!? I have to deal with bad s*** everyday!" White tweeted. "GSP is out with an injury.

"It's GSP'S knee. We will sit Carlos to wait for GSP. It's looking so far like he could be ready in a couple months. Still early to tell though."

Condit's manager Malki Kawa revealed St-Pierre is out of action for at least a month, and confirmed his camp are satisfied that the champion has a legitimate reason for withdrawing from the fight.

"He's out for a month," Zahabi said to MMA Fighting. "I would say at least a month he can't train. So unfortunately, he's out of the fight, that's for sure. He's not in any condition to fight, that's for sure. No doctor will clear him."
