Maynard says Edgar rivalry is far from over

Gray Maynard claims his trilogy with Frankie Edgar is unfinished, because both men have won one bout each.
Maynard was the victor when the lightweight pair first collided in 2008, before they then shared a draw at the start of this year. In their most recent showdown at UFC 125, Edgar survived a first-round beating to record his first win, but in Maynard's eyes that leaves the series level.
Edgar is currently preparing for his next title defence against Ben Henderson at UFC 144, and there are further challenges around the corner in the likes of Gil Melendez, Donald Cerrone and potentially Nick Diaz.
A drop to featherweight - Edgar's more natural weight class - has also been spoken about, but Maynard insists he deserves another crack at the champion.
"Hopefully he holds on to the belt, because there's got to be a part four to make it a true trilogy," Maynard told Tatame.
"Now he has one and I do too, so that's a draw. So, we've got to do it again. Hopefully, he holds on to the belt and I can work back up there."
Maynard is currently awaiting his next opponent in the lightweight division.
