Anderson Silva has dismissed the many taunts of Chael Sonnen, insisting it is fighting - not talking - that makes a UFC legend.

Sonnen has made plenty of efforts to anger the middleweight champion, all in a bid to earn a rematch after their memorable UFC 117 encounter - won by Silva.

The American has labelled Silva a coward, mocked the champion's native Brazil, and likened a black belt from the Nogueira brothers to a toy from a McDonalds happy meal.

Perhaps most crudely, Sonnen has spoken of Silva's wife cooking him a steak dinner, but the champion has not risen to any of it. The pair are expected to fight later this year, but Silva insists Sonnen has little impact on his life.

"Nothing," was his response to MMA Weekly when asked how much of an effect Sonnen's taunts have on him.

"I'm in the UFC for fights. Chael, Mark Munoz, Vitor Belfort, Brian Stann, Chris Leben, I'm staying here for fights. This is my work. It's my life."
