Barao v Jorgensen added to strong UFC 143 card

The UFC 143 card in February may just have added a bantamweight title eliminator after Renan Barao was paired with Scott Jorgensen.

Barao and Jorgensen are largely recognised to be two of the top-five 135-pounders in the sport, and the UFC confirmed on Friday that they will share the same Octagon at UFC 143, headlined by Nick Diaz v Carlos Condit.

The bantamweight title is currently owned by Dominick Cruz, who is set to be sidelined for a while as he coaches against Urijah Faber on season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter. That season will climax when the pair fight, and the winner will need a new opponent.

Barao v Jorgensen potentially throws up the answer. The Brazilian took out Brad Pickett at UFC 138 and is looking for a 28th straight victory.

Jorgensen, meanwhile, is riding back-to-back wins in the UFC and has only lost to Cruz in his last eight fights.
