Rampage keen to fight in UK again

Rampage Jackson has expressed his wish to one day fight in front of a UK audience again, insisting UK MMA fans embarrass their American counterparts.

Rampage is set for his final UFC fight against Glover Teixeira on Saturday, after which his plans for the future remain unclear. He has vowed to fight on, but is unsure whether it will be in MMA or boxing.

Jackson's farewell fight takes place in Chicago, but he admits it is a regret of his that he has only fought in England once. That particular bout saw him beat Dan Henderson to become the first unified Pride and UFC champion.

He has spent the majority of his career fighting on box-office cards in Las Vegas and the United States in general, and Rampage claims the US crowd is the worst in the sport.

"I would honestly say the American crowd is the most negative MMA crowd ever," Jackson told ESPN.

"Fighting in front of the UK crowd - it's the only time I've done it - at the O2 Arena, I remember it being a very tough fight. I had a lot of fans and support from the UK fans and I had more energy in the fight [because of that].

"I look forward to coming back and fighting over here one day, hopefully I can one day - there's a lot of great fans, they're very knowledgeable about the sport."

Jackson highlighted the UFC 155 main event between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos as an example of the fickle American crowd, after Dos Santos was booed at the end of a five-round battle in which he absorbed a heavy beating.

"I'm part of a dying breed of fighters who go out there and fight - whatever happens, happens. If I lose, I know both men can't walk out of the Octagon victorious," Rampage said.

"Fans sometimes don't get that. Look at Junior Dos Santos, he put on a great fight [against Velasquez] and he got booed. They cheered him when he walked in there and then booed him after a great fight. I don't understand that."

Asked if he believes the remainder of his fight career rests in MMA or boxing, Rampage replied: "I'd like to go to boxing, I think I'm something they haven't had for a while like Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson.

"If I get knocked out, I get knocked out. I'm a wrestler! But it'll be exciting, no matter what happens."
