Dan Hardy claims only the threat of being arrested stopped him punching Carlos Condit at the UFC 120 press conference.

Hardy was a frustrated figure during Thursday's media session. With his training done and his weight bang on course, he had little to occupy his mind for the final 48 hours prior to fight night.

Sat across from him at the press conference was opponent Condit, whom Hardy took great delight in taunting next to Michael Bisping. And the Briton admits his desire to punch the American is so great that he almost jumped the gun.

"I'm desperate. If I could have got away with doing it without getting arrested at the press conference I would have done. I'm a bit impatient," Hardy told ESPN, before elaborating on his mocking antics.

"I'm not sure he knows how to take me really, I'm not sure if he knows if I'm joking or not. I like that confusion, but then again he doesn't seem a difficult guy to confuse."

Hardy plans to show a different side of himself on Saturday. Firstly, he plans to exhibit his improved ground game under Eddie Bravo and Victor Estima, and secondly he plans to be more ruthless, revealing he will not stand off if he rocks Condit like he did Mike Swick at UFC 105.

"A lot of guys are tough to break, but when they're broke, that's the end of it. Whereas Condit is very different. He doesn't take much to get broken, but it also doesn't take him much to get back on track. In the Jake Ellenberger fight, a couple of times in the first round he was broken, but then he manages to pull it back. There will be several times when he's broken, the difference is that this time he won't be getting back on track.

"I'll jump all over him. Catch him with a clean punch, and if he's not on the floor already batter him a bit more on the feet and look for the knockout, or pick him up and slam him on his head."
