Dan Hardy admits he will fight with the belief that Saturday could be his last UFC fight when he takes on Anthony Johnson at Fight Night 24 this weekend.

Hardy has lost his last two bouts, against current UFC welterweight king Georges St-Pierre and the last ever WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit. A third consecutive defeat for the Brit would leave him in danger of the chop.

ESPN understands Hardy will not be cut even if he is beaten in Seattle, but that is not a chance he is willing to take after fellow Brit Paul Kelly was axed after a solitary loss to Donald Cerrone in which he won the Fight of the Night cheque.

"I've kind of put myself in a situation and mindset where I'm fighting for my job," Hardy told MMA Junkie. "That's the worst place that I could possibly be in for my opponents because they're going to get everything that I've got and a little bit more.

"It's going to make a big difference in the fight. And I'm going to prove that I belong in the UFC and I'm staying in the UFC."

Having seen Johnson submitted by Rich Clementi and Josh Koscheck, Hardy knows the American has a weakness on the ground, but he has vowed to stand and trade with his rival this weekend.

"As long as the fans are enjoying watching me fight, then I'm always going to have a place to punch people," he said. "I don't want to be the guy who got paid and wouldn't fight. That's not the kind of guy I am because I have a similar mentality to a lot of fans. If I'm getting bored [watching an event], I'm like, 'OK, I'm going to run to the toilet until the next fight comes on.'

"It's like I need to be entertained. I mean, there are people in England staying up till like 3am to watch me fight. So I don't want a boring fight because I'll get s*** back in the gym."
