Shane Carwin will return to the Octagon at UFC 131, fighting debutant Jon Olav Einemo in the heavyweight division.

Carwin has not fought since he was submitted by Brock Lesnar at UFC 116, in a heavyweight title bout that saw Carwin completely dominate before gassing himself out.

Injury and back surgery has curtailed his involvement since then, but UFC president Dana White confirmed to The Seattle Times on Wednesday that Carwin would fight Einemo at UFC 131. The event will be headlined by Lesnar's clash with Junior dos Santos and is expected to take place on June 11.

Einemo gets the fight after specifically asking for Carwin, who had been scheduled to meet the winner of Jon Madsen and Mike Russow.

A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Einemo has only lost to Fabricio Werdum in seven bouts, winning five by submission. Matching up against a predominant striker in Carwin, the Viking will fancy his chances in a ground war.
