Lesnar admits some TUF contestants were 'not so great'
Brock Lesnar has confessed one or two of the talents involved in season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter were "not so great", but he is convinced the best contestants came out on top.
Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos have just finished shooting the latest series of the popular reality show, which this year focuses on welterweights.
The former UFC heavyweight champion revealed he only crossed horns with Dos Santos for a cumulative total of about 45 minutes throughout the five-and-a-half-week filming period, and he also had a limited window to improve his fighters. Asked for an assessment of what he had to work with, Lesnar was impressed and despairing in equal measures.
"There was great talent and not so great talent," said the heavyweight. "It becomes very evident in the show. The cream rises to the top, and the guys that are supposed to win, win. It was pretty well etched in stone.
"It really is a short period of time that you've got these guys. You've really got to manage your time well with them. Five-and-a-half weeks is a short period of time, and there's a lot of fighting going on in that period. If these guys bring bad habits to the table or they lack experience in one area, you've got to be pretty creative to figure that out really fast."
Asked if he would go through it again in a future TUF series, Lesnar replied: "I don't know if I would or not. Looking back from the beginning of the show I was hesitant just because I didn't want to get out of my comfort zone too much, but we had a great group of guys. It was a good opportunity for me to learn as well. I probably wouldn't do it again, no, but I did enjoy it."
