Rampage Jackson targets 'devastating finish'

Don't miss the next ESPN UFC Podcast, which will feature an extended interview with Rampage Jackson

Rampage Jackson has vowed to "whoop Matt Hamill's ass" when the pair meet in the UFC 130 main event.

Jackson is coming off a decision victory over Lyoto Machida, the third consecutive fight that has seen him go to a decision. Hamill's name arguably is not as impressive as any of Rampage's last three opponents, Machida, Rashad Evans or former UFC veteran Keith Jardine, but he insists he is not over-looking the wrestler.

"If Matt Hamill thinks I'll take him lightly, he's mistaken this time," said Rampage. "My coach won't let me take my opponents lightly. I like to finish people. I want a devastating finish.

"I'm a fighter in the true sense of the words Ultimate Fighter. I have the fighter's spirit, and I'm not afraid to do anything. I'm not afraid to fight anybody."

Rampage will be expected to dominate whilst the fight is kept standing in Las Vegas, but his last defeat came when Evans outwrestled him at UFC 114. Jackson is convinced Hamill will try the same.

"Matt Hamill knows what he's gonna do in the fight. I'm pretty sure he's got some great gameplan. He basically wants to take me down. He's already said I can't stop his takedowns, so he's already telling me something right there."

"I'm gonna try to do to Matt Hamill what I try to do to all my opponents: Whoop his ass. There's not one doubt in my mind that I can whoop Matt Hamill."
