Three-time Formula One champion Sir Jackie Stewart will be inducted into the Indianapolis Hall of Fame.
Stewart took part in the Indy 500 in 1966 and was leading with just nine laps to go when his Lola lost oil pressure. Despite failing to go the distance, he was still classified sixth and awarded rookie of the year. The Scot returned in 1967 but suffered a blown engine after qualifying 29th.
He has been voted onto the prestigious list alongside Jim McGee, a manager and chief mechanic who has been on the winning team at the Indy 500 on four occasions. A panel of nearly 150, including existing members of the Hall of Fame, officials, journalists and drivers voted to induct the pair.
