Rubens Barrichello has hinted that he may not stay with Williams next season as he says "the team is shrouded in uncertainty".

Barrichello joined Williams from Brawn at the start of 2010, but after a relatively strong debut season in which he accumulated 47 points, 2011 has proved to be much tougher with only four points to his name, and team-mate Pastor Maldonado scoreless. As a result Williams has undergone major changes in terms of team structure and personnel, but Barrichello says that the result is a disjointed race operation.

"It's an incredible situation," Barrichello told Corriere dello Sport. "I don't know if I will continue next year in these conditions. In recent months we have brought too many aerodynamic parts, we could not test them completely and honestly you can't use a race for testing. We are confused; the team is shrouded in uncertainty."

Following the arrival of Mike Coughlan as chief engineer this year, the changes will continue through to 2012 as technical director Sam Michael leaves his role and Williams switch from Cosworth to Renault engines. Despite Barrichello's reservations, chairman Adam Parr said that the changes were required to create a fresh impetus.

"I think people needed to feel change," Parr said. "Everyone individually has been doing the best they can. But there's the sense that we are not getting the results and we needed a change, and people like what we are doing and where we are going."
