After Lewis Hamilton won the title in fine style and Nico Rosberg's faulty Mercedes put paid to his championship ambitions, ESPN rounds up the best radio soundbites from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

"Is Perez going to let me through? Give me an answer! And why did I get a f****** penalty!?"

It is safe to say Nico Hulkenberg is slightly unimpressed with the news he has a five-second penalty for a first-lap tussle with Kevin Magnussen after also seeing Force India team-mate Sergio Perez gain a position by using a run-off area.

"Well, what the hell does that mean? What do I need to do on pace?
"Just drive flat out, Nico."

An understandably tetchy Nico Rosberg gets antsy with an ambiguous message from race engineer Mike Ross as he continues haemorrhaging positions with an ERS issue.

"Guys please, please don't turn my car up. I'm comfortable."

Lewis Hamilton begs Mercedes not to put too much pressure on his car as he starts to worry about suffering a similar problem to team-mate Nico Rosberg in the closing stages.

"I'm not racing Massa any more."

Hamilton proves he does have some Alain Prost in him after all as he makes it clear to Mercedes he just wants to bring the car home in one piece rather than challenge Felipe Massa for the win. He soon has a change of heart when Rosberg falls out of contention completely.

"I'd like to go to the end, please."

Nico Rosberg is determined to go down fighting as he resists a call from Mercedes to retire his stuttering car in the pits as he drops out of the points.

"Hopefully that counts as driving it like you stole it!

Jenson Button's race engineer Tom Stallard references Lewis Hamilton's recent mentality as he praises the veteran of the paddock on his impressive drive to fifth.

"Whatever happens over the next few weeks, it's been an honour, guys."

Button signs off for the 266th and possibly last time of his Formula One career.

"Lewis, you're an absolute legend. Well done mate."

High praise indeed for Hamilton as Prince Harry - fourth in line to the British throne - takes some time off from his busy schedule to congratulate Britain's newest multiple world champion.

"Woohoo … World champion! Oh my God, I don't believe it!"

Six years is a long time. Hamilton lets the emotions pour out after his 11th win of the season and, most importantly of all, his second world drivers' championship.
