Farah feeling in rude health in America

Mo Farah is relishing another assault on a World Championship gold medal, the Briton admitting "I've never been this confident in my life".

Farah is enjoying a purple patch, having produced a record-breaking 10,000m run at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene in Oregon two weeks ago to add to his double European gold in 2010.

The 28-year-old is thriving after moving to Oregon to train full-time with coach Alberto Salazar - a decision which has helped propel him into the world-class bracket.

"It wasn't easy making that decision, leaving everything behind," he said in the Daily Telegraph. "I could have been happy at home, sitting in my house with a few European medals.

"But you have to say: 'How can I improve? What can I do next?' And over the last five months, a lot has changed. But we're settling in well. My daughter's making more friends than I am."

Farah's new environment and training regime, which sees him go through his paces at Nike's purpose-built running facility as well as making trips to Utah to undergo work at altitude, has left him feeling supremely confident as the clock ticks down to London 2012.

"I've never been this confident in my life," he said. "I'm really actually enjoying it big-time now."

With his career heading on a steep upward curve, Farah is aiming to strike gold at the World Championships in Daegu later this year. Following his sensational run in Eugene, when he ran 26min 46.57sec to smash the British and European records, Farah is finally realising that he is capable of competing with the likes of Tariku Bekele and Imane Merga of Ethiopia and Uganda's Moses Kipsiro.

"It tells me that I can mix it with the rest of the guys," he said. "There are a lot of guys who can run what I'm capable of running. My aim this year is to improve on the last two World Championships, where I finished sixth and seventh.

"After that, it's about staying injury free and staying focused before London."
