Lewis Hamilton says his Mercedes is "feeling really good" after he topped both Friday practice sessions for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Mercedes is the clear favourite this weekend and the drivers lap times lived up to expectations by topping both sessions. Hamilton said the car is feeling significantly better in Bahrain than it did in testing ahead of the start of the season and is confident he can find a good set-up.

"The car feels better than when we were testing here and balance wise it feels really good," he said. "There's still some tweaks we need to make to make it feel perfect, but it's feeling very good. We've got a bit better and we've got a better understanding of the car and we know how to set the car up a little bit better than in testing.

"When you're testing, you are testing so many different things that you can't really set the car up and here we are working on car set-up for the race weekend and it feels good."

But Hamilton is not willing to predict how he will fare this weekend.

"Nico [Rosberg] is very quick and very competitive. Today we don't know what fuel loads people are on so it's difficult to really know where we stand and to get an understanding."
