Mark Webber confessed himself happy with his second place at the Belgian Grand Prix after a clutch issue saw him drop back several places from his starting position of second.

"I had a big bog on the formation lap then we made an adjustment to the clutch which I thought would hopefully get rid of that situation. But I had it even worse on the main start so I was pretty surprised because once you have a 'micro moment' at the start, it is massively exaggerated compared to guys who get normal starts.

"I was on the back foot through Eau Rouge and had a good fight with Adrian [Sutil] to start with and got past Felipe as well and was close to having a look at Seb before the safety car came out. Then it was a mixed up race after that. We had a good first pit stop but not quite enough to jump Robert [Kubica]. But I was happy with second in the end."

Webber was also grateful to benefit from a coming together between Jenson Button and team-mate Sebastian Vettel and by Robert Kubica over-shooting his mark while pitting from second.

"To have the top three qualifiers finish like that you would never have got any money on after a race like today. I am happy with second at the end of the day and Lewis deserved the win. He did a good job. These days it is easy to come away with nothing after a small mistake and everyone did their bit today."

Webber now lies second in the drivers' standings, three points behind Hamilton.
