World Boxing Council president Jose Sulaiman has insisted Dereck Chisora will get a hearing despite having been handed an indefinite ban by the governing body.

Chisora was left reeling by the WBC's decision to sanction him so heavily in the wake of his fight with Vitali Klitschko. The Brit was widely condemned for his antics before, during and after the fight in Germany.

The heavyweight slapped Klitschko at the weigh-in, spat at his brother as the fighters stood in the ring and brawled with David Haye in a post-match press conference.

The WBC took action on Tuesday, "demanding Chisora take anger management medical treatment after which his suspension will be reconsidered".

Chisora's promoter Frank Warren hit out at the decision to ban the fighter before giving him the chance to defend himself, but Sulaiman has insisted the Brit will be allowed to say his piece.

"We'd like to have the doctors certify it and if they say he is approved we would definitely consider (ending the ban)," he told Sky Sports News.

"He is a human being so we're not going to put him in the trash. He made a mistake. He must pay for the mistake but also we have to give him another opportunity.

"We're going to have a hearing. The attorney representing the WBC is Steven Beverley. He will be in charge of the hearing.

"It will take place as soon as possible. We're asking our representative to go ahead and do the hearing immediately."

Sulaiman was upset by Chisora's antics, as he said: "He needs it (anger management therapy). I've never seen before, in my 67 years in boxing, someone behave with so much anger, so much hate."
