Di Resta livid with Force India errors

Paul di Resta was livid with Force India after he dropped out of qualifying in Q1 for the second race in a row.

Having dropped out in Q1 in Monaco, di Resta looked set for a better weekend in Montreal as Force India was competitive in every practice session. However, he spent part of the first qualifying session in the garage and was unable to improve his lap time in the closing minutes as rain intensified, and di Resta slammed the team for another strategic error.

"We had some problems with the gearbox and while we were in the garage trying to rectify it the track was at its best," di Resta said. "There's not much you can do when you're in that position but for the second week running we've not done a good enough job and that needs rectifying because that's letting the whole team down.

"It wasn't the right settings I think to begin with so we had a bit of an issue with the gearbox and then sat in the garage for about four minutes trying to fix it. Meanwhile, the track's getting faster and when we went back out it rained. If there's any time you need to be on track and just get out there - it wasn't that serious an issue - but again when you've had a day like we had yesterday but then to blow it all away again … fortunately it's a track you can overtake but I need to go back and sit down and really analyse what's going on here because it's clearly not acceptable and I'm sure the management won't be either."

Asked if he started qualifying with the gearbox problem, di Resta said it only became apparent after the session started but didn't require immediate attention.

"I was aware of the problem when I was on track and I reported it but why we chose to fix it at that point is another reason when all we had to do was make it through to Q2. So we'll need to look ahead and try to come up with some kind of masterplan tomorrow."
