Sebastian Vettel confessed himself happy with setting the fastest time in free practice for the Canadian Grand Prix although he admitted that high tyre wear and dirty track conditions made it difficult to stay on the road.
Vettel, who set the fastest time of the day in the second session, says it will take some time to lay down enough rubber on the track to make conditions easier to drive.
"It was probably more like rallycross than Formula 1, but we'll see how it goes on Saturday and Sunday," said Vettel. "Obviously this type of track starts off very 'green', so it should improve by Sunday."
Although Vettel admitted the circuit was 'like driving on ice' at times, he thinks Red Bull can have a competitive weekend.
"In the beginning it was like driving on ice. I expect if there is no rain it will be quite a bit better tomorrow and Sunday. Friday's result is not that important, but it's looking not too bad. I think we are quite competitive, so let's see."
