Mark Webber said that the red flags hampered him in Friday practice, but that Red Bull need to find some pace ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

Kamui Kobayashi and Jerome d'Ambrosio both hit the wall on the exit of turn four during the second practice session, bringing out the red flags twice in the final forty minutes. As a result the track was very busy towards the end of the session, compromising the front running teams who had yet to do low-fuel runs on super-soft tyres. Despite not getting a clear lap in to challenge the pace set by Fernando Alonso, Webber said it was clear that Red Bull was not as quick as it would have liked.

"Fernando was quick but we need to get a bit more pace," Webber said. "It was not too bad. We drove around and are not quite quick enough yet. We were all on a pretty good level, McLaren and Ferrari as well. The pace is pretty close but we need to find a bit more pace at the moment."

Webber admitted that the session didn't go according to plan as he was only able to set the seventh fastest time in the afternoon to follow 12th quickest in the first session. He said that Red Bull needed to make the car a bit quicker, but that the weather was being taken in to consideration.

"We were a bit compromised with the red flags at the end of P2, so we could have had a smoother end to the final session, but it wasn't too bad. We tried different fuel loads today and now we just need to chip away and get the car a bit quicker. It's a tricky venue here and we might have some different weather conditions thrown into the mix over the next 24 hours."
