Jaime Alguersuari says he is "quite confident" that he can perform well enough to secure his future at Toro Rosso.

With reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo - a Red Bull protégé - getting plenty of track time in Friday practice, the pressure has been on Alguersuari and Sebastian Buemi to deliver or face the potential of being replaced. Buemi has outqualified his team-mate six times in seven races, and secured four points finishes to Alguersuari's one, although those points came courtesy of an eighth place at the most recent Canadian Grand Prix.

Alguersuari says that he is still learning in the car and is focussing on helping the team to develop it rather than on any outside pressures.

"At the moment I said it so many times, I think both of us and the team have been developing the car." Alguersuari said. "We still have to learn lots of things and to develop things on the set-up."

"I don't know about the situation on the future, I always try to do my best, I try to enjoy it because it is my job and if I don't enjoy my job I would not be here. I am quite relaxed, I am quite confident, I know what I can do and what are my possibilities. There are lot of things to learn, a lot of things to see - and I hope to be in the points again here. I am still learning and still developing the car until the end of the year."
