Hello and welcome to ESPN's live coverage of the Austrian Grand Prix from the Red Bull Ring! 14:00: The formation lap is underway and we are just moments away from lights out. ---- 13:58: We are just a few minutes away now from the start of the 2017 Austrian Grand Prix. Who will come out on top to take victory? Keep it here with ESPN to find out! ---- 13:55: The weather will be a factor to keep an eye on throughout the race. The Red Bull Ring's location means the weather can be unpredictable and change quickly. ---- 13:52 Less than ten minutes to go before lights out! Clouds are looming overhead but the rain is staying away, at least for now. ---- 13:49: The two Sauber's complete the grid with Ericsson lining up from 19th. His teammate Wehrlein will start the race from the pitlane, however, after fitting a new turbocharger this morning. ---- 13:47: Massa and Stroll line up from 17th and 18th, after Williams worst qualifying performance since the 2014 British Grand Prix. ---- 13:45: It's time for the Austrian national anthem! ---- 13:44: Vandoorne is next on the grid in 13 -- running Honda's updated Spec Three power unit -- while Kvyat, Magnussen and Palmer round out the top 16. ---- 13:43: Outside of the top ten come the Renault of Hulkenberg and Alonso -- who has reverted back to Honda's Spec Two engine in his McLaren. The Spaniard is looking to score back-to-back points finishes for McLaren. ----- 13:38: Force India start either side of Hamilton. Today is a great chance to recoup points lost at the last two races, especially with Williams starting so far down the order. Sainz, one of the star performers yesterday, starts P10. Hamilton the only man in the top ten starting on the super-soft tyre, which could be a crucial difference to the rest if the race stays dry throughout. --- 13:37: Hamilton's misfortune has promoted Red Bull to fourth and fifth on the grid. Watch out for the fast-starting Verstappen, he seems to be in a fiesty mood at the moment given his recent misfortune. Grosjean starts from P6 for Haas and will be looking to stay out of trouble in the early corners -- the American team has a big chance for some pretty solid points. --- 13:36: Valtteri Bottas the man on pole this afternoon, the second time this season he'll start from P1. The Finn will have two Ferraris two contend with on the run up to Turn 1, with teammate Lewis Hamilton further back after incurring a grid penalty for a gearbox change. If the rain stays away, the car leading after the first lap will be in a very strong position to take the chequered flag as overtaking can be difficult in Spielberg, despite the long straights and heavy braking DRS zones. --- 13:34: There are some rather moody-looking dark clouds littered around the Red Bull Ring currently. The chance of rain on the FIA monitors two hours before lights out was 80 percent -- curious to see what the next one says in around six minutes or so. Rain would certainly spice this one up in a big way. --- 13:32: Verstappen one of the first to had to the circuit. There's a huge contingent of Dutch fans here this weekend. The grandstand overlooking the long run down to Turns 2/3 has a huge orange section in the middle. Verstappen might have to do something fairly special to reward them all with a podium this afternoon. --- 13:30: As the clock ticks over to half-past, the pit-lane lights go green - it's time for the cars to start making their way to the grid. |
