Formula One continues to expand its presence on social media after launching an official Instagram account.

F1 has long been behind other sports in embracing new media but that has changed in the last few months, with greater interaction on Twitter, a new-look website, timing screen and app. It has also started posting to its official YouTube account with regularity.

On Friday the official F1 Twitter account confirmed it had joined the photo- and video-sharing world of Instagram. Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton is already prolific on Instagram, though it remains to be seen whether the F1 account's official content expands beyond the Brit's fashion sense and dogs Roscoe and Coco.
