FIA president Jean Todt has warned against making a knee-jerk reaction following the multiple tyre blow outs at the British Grand Prix.

Formula One teams and driver have demanded something be done in time for this weekend's race at the Nurburgring, with McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh keen for an action plan sooner rather than later. Todt has told Pirelli to come up with a solution by the time the Sporting Working Group meets on Wednesday, but said F1 must not make an emotional response to the events on Sunday.

"I had a meeting with officials from Pirelli who will obviously investigate all the incidents that occurred in recent days," he told Canal+. "They will come up with proposals for the important meeting with all the teams on Wednesday. This (problem) will be part of the priority agenda.

"From the moment there are safety issues we have to make the right decision, and not just respond emotionally. We must analyse things and let the experts come together to meet after that. It will allow us to make a final decision."

Red Bull and McLaren have called for a return of the 2012 tyres if enough are in stock, but Pirelli has not yet hinted at what the solution will be.The Nurburgring is not as an extreme circuit as Silverstone for the tyres, but team principals have made clear that they want to see action before the cars hit the track on Friday.
