Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has suggested he is likely to return to Stamford Bridge after a successful season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, insisting he is "not scared of competition".

The Belgium international's feats have prompted calls for his return to Chelsea after Torres and Demba Ba struggled domestically, with incumbent manager Jose Mourinho coy on his plans for the youngster.

Following his country's 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over Serbia on Friday, Lukaku gave his strongest hint yet that he will be making his way back to Chelsea.

"I already know where I'm going, or where I'll be heading back to, but I won't say any more than that," he said. "The only thing I will say is that I want to succeed at Chelsea and I'm not scared of competition."

Lukaku has acknowledged that he will have to earn his place in Mourinho's side and accepts his position may never be secure under the Portuguese boss.

"I have to prove myself again, even if he gives me some credit you still start from zero every single day," the striker said. "I'm going there with the intention to succeed."
