Bo Van Pelt will carry a one-shot lead into the final round of the Canadian Open after a firing a five-under 65 on Saturday.

Van Pelt is at five-under for the tournament, with Adam Hadwin second at four-under, and Andres Romero and Kris Blanks tied for third at three-under.

Overnight leaders Chad Campbell and Michael Thompson fell into the pack, imploding with a pair of 74s that leaves both at level-par.

Elsewhere, John Daly made a significant move by posting a 67 that featured four birdies between holes 11 and 15. The colourful 45-year-old is now at two-under, and in with a shout of a first PGA Tour title in more than seven years.

World No.1 Luke Donald endured another tough day, carding a forgettable birdie-free 72 to leave himself languishing at five-over. The Englishman was uncharacteristically imprecise with the irons, hitting less than half of his greens in regulation - and, for once, he wasn't able to putt himself out of trouble.

The man with the planet's finest short game was in fine form from the tee, averaging 20 yards more than he had on the previous two days, but his work with the short stick called to mind some of Lee Westwood's lowest moments at last week's Open Championship.

Last year's FedEx Cup winner Jim Furyk is barely in the top 100 of this year's standings following a difficult period - and he continued to look far from his best, recording a 72 that leaves him six-over.

Ernie Els began the tournament with a 68, but a second successive 74 has seen him slump to six-over. The South African had three bogeys and a double-bogey on the front nine and, while he steadied the ship after the turn, his game was all at sea - he found only 43% of his fairways and took 32 putts.
