World No. 507 Oliver Fisher claimed his maiden European Tour title by triumphing in the Czech Open at Prosper Golf Resort.

England's Fisher made just one cut between January and early July but, despite having no form to speak of coming in to the tournament, he maintained his composure across the weekend to finish at 13-under, two shots ahead of Mikael Lundberg in second and four in front of Fabrizio Zanotti in third.

Steven O'Hara and Fisher shared the lead at ten-under going into the final day and, as O'Hara wilted under the pressure to card a forgettable three-over 75, Fisher coolly compiled a 69.

He began the day with six straight pars to steady the nerves, then set about seizing control of the tournament with three straight birdies between seven and nine. On the way in he briefly threatened to crumble, dropping shots at 11, 13 and 15 but, crucially, he gained shots at 14, 16 and 17 to march over the finish line.

Fisher, 22, began the event 224th in the Race to Dubai standings, 117 places off the bottom of the list, and will now hope that this triumph has set into motion a change in his fortunes.
