Wyndham Championship winner Webb Simpson is the latest player to overtake Tiger Woods in the world rankings.

Simpson claimed his maiden PGA Tour victory by three strokes from George McNeill at the weekend, a triumph that takes him up 22 places to 33rd, three ahead of Woods.

Woods was a fixture at world No. 1 for many years but, since returning to the sport in April 2010 following a break prompted by a series of revelations about his personal life, is yet to taste victory.

He has endured an injury-blighted 2011, missing three months after the Players Championship in May due to leg injuries, and failed to make the cut at the US PGA Championship in his most recent start.

Woods is outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup list, meaning he is not eligible to compete in the end-of-season play-offs, which begin with The Barclays in New Jersey this week.

Meanwhile, young Brit Oliver Fisher, who clinched the Czech Open title at the Prosper Golf Resort, climbs from 507th to 238th in the rankings.
