Luke Donald has ruled out the possibility of using a long putter, despite the recent trend of winners switching from the traditional short stick.

Adam Scott, Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson have won the last three events on the PGA Tour using some form of the long version of the putter. Scott in particular has revived his fortunes with his new putter and there is a growing trend for players to consider the change.

But Donald, who is second behind Steve Stricker in the Strokes Gained Putting ranking, is happy with his stroke and does not see any need to change.

"I've never dabbled and hopefully never will," the world No. 1 said in response to a question about the long putter. "I feel very confident in my putting. I don't really feel the need to even try it.

"Obviously it's becoming a lot more prevalent and a lot more people are using them. But I'm not sure if the number of wins is escalating.

"Obviously we had our first major with it, but every other major other than that has been one with a short putter, so I think I'm still on the right side of it."
