England's Ian Poulter has selected Justin Rose as his partner for the World Cup, which takes place in China during November.

Luke Donald, Paul Casey and Lee Westwood all turned down the chance to play in the event, meaning Poulter was free to choose a companion.

And he opted for Rose, reprising a partnership that saw them win two of their three games together at the 2008 Ryder Cup.

Ireland can boast a formidable-looking team, with Graeme McDowell joining Rory McIlroy, while Scotland have Martin Laird and Stephen Gallacher and Wales' hopes lie in the hands of Jamie Donaldson and Rhys Davies.

Francesco and Edoardo Molinari will attempt to defend the title they won for Italy in 2009.
