Donald feat will never be matched - Clarke

Open Championship winner Darren Clarke reckons Luke Donald's money-list double during 2011 will never be repeated.

World No. 1 Donald finished top of the cash standings on both the PGA and European Tours, making history by becoming the first man to do so. It was the culmination of a glorious season for the Englishman, who claimed four wins worldwide - and a rash of top-ten finishes.

That achievement, alongside Rory McIlroy's storming triumph at the US Open, has led Clarke to declare that European golf is in the ascendancy at the start of a Ryder Cup year.

"You look at Rory and the way he's been playing, and what he did at the US Open," Clarke said to BBC Sport. "And you've got Luke, who finished number one in the money list in the United States and Europe. I don't think that will be done again. What Luke achieved was monumental."

Clarke had to wait 20 years before winning his first major at Royal St George's in 2011, and he believes that Lee Westwood will also get his hands on one sooner rather than later. "My good mate is knocking on the door - he'll win a major, or majors, sooner rather than later," Clarke said.
