Bullish Wagner targets top-10 spot

Johnson Wagner has climbed into the world's top 100 after picking up his third PGA Tour title in Hawaii, and the American has put his success down to a gruelling off-season.

A round of 67 was enough for the 31-year-old to triumph at the Sony Open on Sunday by a two-shot margin, catapulting him 106 places in the world rankings to 92nd.

Reflecting on his win, he told Sky Sports: "I'm really excited. I've worked so hard in the off-season with my trainer, my caddie, and I told everyone I was going to win early this year.

"It feels good to have done it."

After fulfilling his vow, Wagner says the sky is the limit. He told the PGATour: "Why stop at top 50? Why can't I be in the top 10 in the world? I drive it good. I play good golf. I think I just want to be the best that I can."

Elsewhere South African Branden Grace, who claimed his maiden European Tour crown at the Joburg Open at the weekend, has leaped from 258th to 164th in the standings, while last year's FedEx Cup runner-up Webb Simpson is the only mover in the top 10 - jumping up one place to sixth.
