Clarke splits from Open-winning caddie

Open champion Darren Clarke has opted to part ways with the caddie that helped him win the Claret Jug just five months ago.
John Mulrooney was on the Northern Irishman's bag as he made his way to a surprise three-shot victory at Royal St George's last July, but will now be looking for another employer after Clarke's poor run of form continued at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
Clarke fired rounds of 72 and 81 to miss the cut at the European Tour event, although his management group ISM insisted the subsequent split from Mulrooney was amicable. Clarke has struggled for any sort of form since his maiden major success, with a 20th-place finish at the limited field Tournament of Champions earlier this month his best finish.
Clarke now has three weeks to find a new bagman - either on a temporary or permanent basis - before he returns to competitive action at the WGC-Accenture Match Play next month, an event he won in 2000.
