Lee Westwood is looking to take the positives despite coming up short at the WGC-Accenture World Match Play Championship.

Westwood was beaten in the semi-finals by Rory McIlroy who fought back from three down to claim victory in the clash between the second and third best players on the planet.

McIlroy went on to lose to Hunter Mahan in the final, a defeat that cost him the world No. 1 ranking, while Westwood was beaten by Mark Wilson in the consolation event.

Westwood played some stunning golf all week and is delighted with how his season is developing.

"I'm playing great," Westwood said. "It's all solid stuff. Every part of my game is pretty good.

"You can't let a game of match play with all its fickleness get in the way of when you're playing well and build up your confidence and try and carry that forward."

Mahan's win catapulted him up the world rankings from 22 to nine, while Tiger Woods tumbled out of the top 20 after his loss to Nick Watney.
