Tiger: I'm still in this ball game

Tiger Woods insists he can still win the US Open despite crashing to a third round 75 in San Francisco.

Woods led the way at the halfway stage, but slumped down the leaderboard as he struggled to recover from a shaky start on Saturday.

Woods has never won a major if he has not held or shared the 54-hole lead, but despite sitting five strokes off co-leaders Graeme McDowell and Jim Furyk, Woods believes he is capable of claiming his 15th major.

"I'm definitely still in the ball game. I'm only five back and that's certainly doable on this golf course for sure," Woods said.

With Furyk and McDowell the only two men under par at Olympic Club, Woods is confident he is still in contention.

"It's just patience. It's just a few birdies here and there. It's not like where you have to go out there and shoot 62 and 63. This is a US Open. You just need to hang around. First you need to get off to a good start. Get through the first six. Because anything can happen at the last three holes.

"I was just missing by just a few yards and that was enough. Probably about three fairways I missed just probably about three or four yards. And then that makes a big difference."
