England's Lee Westwood had a nightmare day on Saturday at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, firing an 11-over 81.

Leaderboard

One week out from the US PGA Championship, Westwood finds himself five shots off the bottom of the leaderboard in Ohio.

He played the first seven holes in seven-over, birdied eight - and then dropped four more shots after the turn. The Englishman, who said at The Open he had been struggling with his game for a while, found 21% of his fairways and required 36 putts.

Meanwhile, Justin Rose hit a fine 66 as Jim Furyk defended his overnight lead. Rose hit form with five birdies and one bogey, and is locked in a tie for sixth at five-under, while Furyk had one bogey and one birdie in a 70. Louis Oosthuizen is second, one stroke behind Furyk.

Rory McIlroy showed signs he is once more a force to be reckoned with, signing for a 67 after another brilliant day with the irons. He is tied for fourth at six-under, and currently leads the field in greens in regulation, with 78% hit in round three.

A 70 for Graeme McDowell left him three-under, one shot behind Luke Donald.

Tiger Woods had a 68 to move to level-par, but his chances of becoming the world No. 1 - he needed to win the tournament to do so - are over.
