Sergio Garcia will take a slender one-shot lead into the final round of the Wyndham Championship - as he looks to win on the PGA Tour for the first time in four years and effectively book his Ryder Cup place.

Garcia, outside the automatic qualification places for the European team for the match in Medinah as things stand, fired a four-under par round of 66 at Sedgefield Country Club to give himself a bit of breathing space atop a packed leaderboard in Greensboro.

The Spaniard had five birdies on the day, with his only mistake coming at the 14th - as he missed a short par putt after doing most of the hard work with his pitch shot from a tricky lie. Nevertheless, he holds a one-shot lead over Bud Cauley and Tim Clark, who both sit 13-under.

Three in-form players are one shot further back at 12-under, with Jason Dufner the biggest name. The American is looking to cement his place as a contender for the FedEx Cup jackpot with a win this week, as he plans to skip next week's Barclays Championship. Dufner is currently projected to move to second in the season standings.

Boyhood member at Sedgefield Carl Pettersson is also 12-under, alongside PGA Tour rookie Harris English.

A number of other players are well in contention for victory, including US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III - who is 11-under alongside Matt Every and Jimmy Walker.

US Open champion Webb Simpson is ten-under as he rediscovers some form, caught in a seven-way tie with the likes of Justin Leonard and last year's FedEx Cup winner, Bill Haas.

Another five players can still harbour hopes of victory at nine-under, including Charl Schwartzel and Nicolas Colsaerts - who, like Garcia, is looking to force his way into the European Ryder Cup team at the 11th hour.
