Quesne takes lead in Switzerland as Lawrie lurks

France's Julien Quesne claimed the lead of the European Masters on day two, with British duo Paul Lawrie and Danny Willett leading the chase.

World No. 174 Quesne hit a six-under 65 at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland, to move to nine-under overall through 36 holes.

Quesne's aggressive approach reaped rich rewards, as he tallied seven birdies and an eagle. However, there were also three bogeys - and he was two-over through three holes before completing a turnaround.

England's Willett, who won his first European Tour title in June, had a 67 and is eight-under.

Meanwhile, Ryder Cup player Lawrie boosted his bid for back-to-back triumphs with a 66, leaving him seven-under. The veteran Scot was the victor at the Johnnie Walker Championship last week.

Sweden's Peter Hanson, who like Lawrie will appear at Medinah in European colours next month, had a 69 and is four-under.
