Despite conceding that he was unhappy with his showing at The Masters, Ian Poulter has climbed two places into fifth in the golf world rankings.

Poulter, who finished in a tie for tenth at Augusta, admitted that he felt "mad" after failing to capitalise on his chance of victory. "I'm not happy walking away from this golf course," he said. "I'm pretty mad right now. I've got every reason to be. I was leading on Friday." Poulter is one ranking place behind fellow Englishman Lee Westwood, who finished second in the year's first Major.

Phil Mickelson has returned to second place after his victory at The Masters. Mickelson replaces Steve Stricker, who drops to third, after claiming his third green jacket at Augusta. Tiger Woods, who played in his first tournament since November at the weekend, remains at No. 1.

Padraig Harrington, who failed to make the cut at Augusta, has dropped to 11th - one place ahead of Rory McIlroy. Anthony Kim, winner of the Houston Open, replaces Harrington in the top ten - although he looks set to take a break from the game in the near future after admitting that his long-standing thumb injury may require surgery.
