Branden Grace successfully defended his overnight lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to grab his fourth European Tour triumph of the season.

Grace began the week with a superb 60 and closed at 22-under, two shots ahead of Thorbjorn Olesen. Alexander Noren was third at 18-under.

The champion began the day with a four-stroke cushion to defend - but his coronation was rather less serene than he would have hoped, following a spirited pursuit from Olesen.

When Grace three-putted the 11th to record a bogey, he was level with the dogged Olesen - a state of affairs which did not last long, with Grace picking up shots at each of the next three holes to take himself over the line.

Grace will now turn his attentions to trying to stop Rory McIlroy walking away with the Race to Dubai No. 1 spot; he will move up to third with this win.

The victory marked Grace's first top-ten finish on the European tour since May at the BMW PGA Championship.
