Rookie Jonas Blixt claimed his maiden major tour title with a nerve-wracking one-shot victory at the Frys.com Open on Sunday.

Blixt started the day two shots adrift of overnight leader John Mallinger, but overcame that deficit to win the tournament thanks to a closing round 68.

The Swede's job was made all the harder by the performance of Tim Petrovic, however, as the American completed a seven-under par final round of 64 to set an intimidating clubhouse target of 15-under. Blixt was up to the challenge, however, with two birdies in his final four holes - at the 15th and 17th - just about getting the job done.

"It's unbelievable," Blixt said. "I have no words right now.

"This is the biggest dream I've ever had."

Petrovic ultimately shared second with Jason Kokrak, who also completed his final round at CordeValle in 68 shots. Mallinger, meanwhile, was one of a number of players to share fourth at 14-under - alongside Vijah Singh and Jimmy Walker.

Nicolas Colsaerts, meanwhile, suffered a subdued end to his tournament - with a 73 ultimately resigning him to a share of 35th.
