Gallacher has Masters at Augusta on his mind

Stephen Gallacher has set his sights on breaking into the world's top 50 in the next month to secure a spot at the Masters.

The Scot overcome a fourth-round wobble to win the Dubai Desert Classic - ending a nine-year winless run.

The victory has propelled Gallacher up to 60 in the latest world rankings, but that is not enough to guarantee his spot in the Masters.

The Augusta spectacular is the only major Gallacher has not yet taken part in and he wants to break the habit of watching it on television.

"It's the only major I've never played," he said. "I sit and watch it in the house with the kids every year and obviously it would be a dream to play there.

"My plan at the start of the year is to try and get into the top 50 to try and make The Ryder Cup [at Gleneagles in 2014]."

Phil Mickelson was the other winner on Sunday, with Lefty going wire-to-wire in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and his victory took him back into the world's top ten.
