McIlroy wants Wozniacki on his bag

Rory McIlroy has stated that he wants to see his tennis-player girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki caddie for him in the preceding par-three tournament to the Masters at Augusta on Wednesday.

The semi-social challenge, which takes place one day prior to the first round of the major, is held on a par-three course on the Augusta National grounds and McIlroy is hoping that WTA world No. 10 Wozniacki will don the special caddie's boiler suit for him.

"I'd love to see her wearing that [boiler suit] and caddying but whether it actually happens or not we will have to wait and see" McIlroy told The Daily Mail.

Despite losing world No. 1 status to Tiger Woods in March, the Northern Irishman returns to Augusta National with two majors under his belt; a far-cry from the youngster that fell victim to the back nine in 2011, when he surrendered a four-shot lead in his last round.

"I'm looking forward to it no matter what, because this is my favourite tournament," McIlroy said.

"Obviously, any time you're going there as a major champion it is a nice thing to say. You're doing a lot of things right if you can say that.

"As for what happened two years ago, I took on board what Michael Jordan said, that he failed and failed again and that's why he succeeded, because he learned from all of them."

McIlroy is second favourite with the bookmakers to wear the green jacket at the end of the four rounds, and admits that Augusta still remains his favourite course.

"The first time I went to Augusta I was so in awe I stood over shots and was scared to take a divot," McIlroy said.

"The place looked so good. And of course your feelings change, you're trying to win a green jacket and competing against the best players in the world. You start treating it like a golf course. But it still has that aura."

And following a timely return to form, McIlroy is adamant he can fulfil his potential and add further titles to his belt in the near future.

"I thought Augusta might be my best chance for a major given how the course suits my strengths and yet here I am, halfway to a career grand slam, and that's one of the missing pieces of the puzzle," McIlroy said.

"The big goal for me from now on is to win more of these majors, and the stage I'm at right now -- well, winning the Masters would mean everything."
