Tiger Woods sealed his eighth WGC-Bridgestone Invitational success at Firestone, winning by seven shots ahead of Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson.

It is Woods' 18th career WGC title, and his 79th PGA Tour title. The American maintains his No. 1 position in the FedExCup standings with 3,031 points.

Only a final-day meltdown could have prevented Woods from lifting the trophy. He held his nerve to finish even for the day and 15-under overall, as his attentions turn to capturing major No. 15 at the US PGA Championship.

"I don't know what it is [about Firestone]." Woods said. "I've felt comfortable here for some reason. Just because you're comfortable it doesn't mean you'll play well, but I put it together.

"I struggled yesterday in the middle part of the round. I was concerned with making pars. It was a perfect day to protect. The conditions were blustery, it was tough. It was easier to shoot a number around par.

"I'm looking forward to the PGA. I've got three days to get ready. My game is pretty consistent. One of the things I've noticed this year is the weeks I've putted well I've been able to win."

Bradley, the 2012 champion, went three under for the day with Swede Stenson carding 70 to tie him for second place.

Chris Wood's one-over final round left him tied for seventh with Bill Haas, five under for the tournament. Luke Donald's 72 saw him drop back to four under, tied ninth with Martin Kaymer, Jim Furyk and Richard Sterne.

US Open champion Justin Rose hit 69 to finish one under overall, with Ian Poulter even par after a final-round 70.

Rory McIlroy ended two over, with Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell slipping back to five over for the tournament.
