Spieth misses out on history at Wyndham Championship
Jordan Spieth missed out on the opportunity to become the youngest two-time PGA Tour winner after losing in a play-off to Patrick Reed at the Wyndham Championship.
The 20-year-old, who earlier in the year became the youngest PGA Tour champion in 82 years and the fourth of all-time with victory at the John Deere Classic, had hit a five-under 65 to take the clubhouse lead on 14-under thanks to six birdies, with Reed and John Huh on the 17th green.

In the play-off, Spieth on the first hole held par from 26 feet after Reed missed from eight to claim the win.
On the second extra hole, Reed hit trouble when he was required to play a provisional shot, and with Spieth on the fairway it seemed as though his hopes of lifting the trophy had disappeared.
But, Reed played a superb shot through the branches to land within six feet of the hole, and with Spieth 10 feet off and missing, Reed made birdie to capture his maiden PGA Tour victory.
Despite missing out on making history, Spieth entered the year without a PGA Tour card, and now with his excellent showings enters the FedExCup play-offs eighth in the standings.
