Gregory Bourdy carded three birdies in the last three holes of his final round at Celtic Manor to win the Wales Open by two shots.

Bourdy was level with overnight leader Peter Uihlein after 15 holes of their fourth round, but an amazing finish on the way back to the clubhouse helped the Frenchman claim the title.

A 50-foot putt off the 16th green for birdie was followed by another 15-foot birdie effort at the 17th, before Bourdy completed his round with a third consecutive birdie from 30 feet at the last to record a 67, leaving him top of the standings at eight-under-par.

Uihlein mustered a one-over 72 in his final visit, including a bogey at the last, to finish six-under for the tournament.

Victory gives Bourdy his first tournament win since the Hong Kong Open in 2009, ending a stretch of 105 European Tour events without triumph.

"It was an amazing round," Bourdy said. "I made an amazing finish with three birdies in a row and I am so happy.

"I will remember the finish on this great course for a long time. A lot of great moments have been here; I was thinking about the Ryder Cup on the 18th so I am so proud to win this trophy."

Uihlein began the day with a three shot lead, but could not reproduce his third round form to add to his Madeira Islands Open win last May.

Soren Kjeldsen shot his best round of the week for third place, finishing with a five-under 66 to make a late move up the leaderboard. England's John Parry remained tied for fourth with Joost Luiten, both ending their Open campaign on three-under after four rounds.
