Clarke confesses he is finding golf 'a huge struggle'

A frustrated Darren Clarke confessed that he was finding golf "a huge struggle" after enduring a disappointing day at US Open qualifying.
The Ulsterman, who finished two-over across the 36-hole tournament at Walton Heath, has only two top-25 finishes on the European Tour this year.
After again failing to arrest his slump, he conceded that he is at a loss to pinpoint the specific areas of his game that have gone awry.
"It's everything," he said. "I just can't strike them. I'm struggling and I don't particularly feel like playing golf at the moment - but it is the US Open and I wanted to see if I could turn it around. I can't put it together at all."
Clarke has enjoyed success at the US Open in the past - he recorded a tenth-place finish in 1999 - but he will not compete at the tournament this year, much to his frustration.
"I just can't score," he said. "I'm taking as many as I can every time I play and I'm not particularly enjoying it, I have to say. It's just a huge struggle at the moment. It's been going on a while - I'm not trying any different things, just trying as hard as I can."
