Paul Waring and Hennie Otto shared the clubhouse lead after round two at the Portugal Masters, before David Lynn made it a trio on 12-under at the top of the leaderboard.

Brit Waring carded a flawless eight-under-par 63 to add to his first round of 67, hitting four birdies in both his front nine and return to the clubhouse to move to 12-under overall.

Waring has been playing on the Tour with a medical exemption after undergoing surgery on a serious wrist injury but is pleased with his recent form.

"I think the lovely weather's had a bit of a hand in it. I played nicely, kept control of my golf ball well, hit it close a few times and holed a few putts," Waring said.

"I've been playing better for the last few months; I lost by one in Valencia, two in Gleneagles. I've been knocking on the door a few times so it's nice to keep myself in contention week on week.

"If I can get into one of these big four events [of the Final Series] at the end of the season that would be great. I am not going to put too much pressure on myself. I've had a medical [exemption] all year so it's nice to get back into a proper category for next year."

Otto shot a seven-under 64 at the Oceanico Victoria course for his share of the lead, finishing strongly with successive birdies in his last two holes to move alongside Waring.

Lynn looked likely to drop at shot on his final hole, but managed to save par despite finding the bunker on the 18th. The Englishman finished with a second successive 65.

Elsewhere, Bernd Wiesberger and Chris Daok sit one shot back at 11-under following their respective rounds of 65 and 64 while Alvaro Quiros carded a 67 to move to 10-under alongside Ross Fisher.

Paul Lawrie enjoyed a 66 on his second visit to move into contention at seven-under.
