McIlroy three shots off lead in Korea
Rory McIlroy is three shots off the lead after carding a one-under-par 71 in his first round at the Korean Open.
Korean Jang Ik-Jae leads proceedings following his four-under round of 67, while compatriots Kang Sung-hoon, Yoon Jung-ho and Han Min-Kyu all sit on three-under after rounds of 68. They are joined by American Eric Mina, who also shot 68.
McIlroy is the highest ranked player in the field of the £625,000 event and made four birdies, a bogey and a double bogey during his round.
The world number six is playing in his first tournament since failing to qualify for the PGA Tour Championship in September. McIlroy finished runner-up at the Korea Open in 2011, behind American Rickie Fowler.
McIlroy has failed to find a win in 2013, but is looking to rekindle his game ahead of the BMW Masters in Shanghai later in October and a special exhibition round with Tiger Woods at Mission Hills.
